LAST WEEK'S MEETING

Canine Physical Therapist

The speaker at the meeting last week was Dr. Kate Christian, a certified canine rehabilitation therapist, from the Windcrest Animal Hospital. Dr. Kate showed photos and described how dogs can benefit from physical rehabilitation to improve the quality of their lives after accidents or illness. She said it's good for orthopedic and neurological problems to increase function in limbs, reduce pain, and decrease muscle atrophy.  The photos showed aqua therapy and demonstrated significant progress for the dogs she treated.  A consultation costs about $125 and six therapy sessions usually run aboutr $350.

Power Up Gambia

Jill read a letter from Kathryn Cunningham Hall about the great work being done in The Gambia providing power to hospitals. This is one of Christiana Rotary's favorite projects.  The letter described the latest successes at keeping power available at the hospital Kathryn told the club members about the last time she came to speak. Many lives are being saved as a result of these efforts.

Shoe Boxes for Soldiers

Karen Poore reminded the club members to bring in their shoe boxes of goodies and staples. There are just two weeks left in the drive to provide some fun and necessary things for the men and women serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
