It is both my honor and pleasure to serve another term as President of the Rotary Club of Christiana.
So many things have changed since my last term, yet so many things remain the same. I was last inducted in June of 2001, just ten weeks prior to what would prove to be a pivotal moment in our country’s history. September 11, 2001 changed our lives forever. That day changed our sense of security. It changed our economy. It changed how we deal with one another. It changed our sensitivities. But, many things remain the same. Our local community has needs. Our country has needs. And, the world has needs. Also unchanged is the willingness of our great club to rise up and help meet those needs.
While every service organization faces the current challenges of recruiting members, retaining members, and a difficult economy, our club is as strong as ever. I am consistently amazed at the generosity, commitment and drive of the members of our club. I will continue to call upon each and every member to continue their contribution to our collective efforts.
Our goals this year are ambitious. Yet, I’m positive that we will rise up and meet the challenges in front of us. We will raise more money. We will continue to do good. We will look for more people to help. And, we will have a lot of fun in the process!
We can always use more help. If you want to know more about us and what we do, please contact us. We cannot promise that Rotary is for everyone, but you’ll never know unless you come to a meeting.
I’m looking forward to a rewarding 2010-2011 Rotary Year!
Yours in Rotary,
Ted Elder
